ISO-200, F/7.1, 1/480, BW, polarizer. The sepia tint was added in Photoshop. This photo would fall in the "unmanipulated" category except for the sepia color--it says in the guidelines that a BW photo can not be colorized, so I guess this image breaks that rule unless the sepia colorization is excluded from the definition. Also as is the case with all my photos I have dodged and burned some parts.

This photo was taken at Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierras of

California. Let me know what you think...

Quite engaging. The reflection and the texture in the sky are what hold my attention. Nice work!

Personally, I find the contrast of the rocks (whatever those are called, I'm sure they have a proper name) to be a bit harsh considering the soft, subdued sky and water. One of those cases where it appears to be either a composition or overdone in Photoshop. I'm not accusing you of this though - I'm well aware that nature can offer up some surreal images that appear artificial when in fact they're actually genuine, but this one falls into that trap for me.

Interesting comments Bruce. The rocks are called tuffas (spelling?). As far as the "artifical" comment, nothing artificial about it, I followed all the photo.net rules for unmanipulated images except for the sepia. I did adjust the contrast/lightness/darkness as well on both the picture as a whole, the mountains on the left and the water. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Striking. Love your vertical placement of the rocks in the frame. very pleasing. You certainly nailed it. For the heck of it, did you try cropping to make it perfectly symmetric?

Beautiful B&W work and toning. The monotone sets it apart from the common Mono Lake scenes.
