Dramatic and gorgeous image, Alf. I sense total serenity and peace here. I love the figure standing up,and the head of another below; just enough detail to notice humans amidst the incredible beauty of nature.

There are so many superlatives already stated I'm not going to be repetitive. I will just say its excellent and I could easily add this and about a dozen other of your images to my favorites. Take care Alf.

All the Best,

Holger

Outstanding work. You have done well in all aspects on this particular work. Colors and color saturation, composition, space and distance, mirror like and almost quite water surface -- well compliment each other. Another word -- just excellent.

Stunning image! The sailboat and its reflection creates a fantastic geometrical silhouette and the colors are just as amazing. Beautiful composition. Regards, Alf

Beautifully handled.  I love how the pink and blue intermingle in the water and then the orange sky kind of drifts along breaking them up.

Many thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback. It was the sunset that first attracted me, but later the boats and the human element were factors too. The two figures in the boat are father and daughter, he is teaching her to sail. I only know this because I spoke to them when they landed after asked did I get any good shots, I showed them on the monitor on the back of my camera and we got chatting.

Many thanks for your visit and positive feedback. I got lucky with the wind dropping to almost zero just at the right time.

You described my feelings about boats and water perfectly, I love them! Many thanks for your visit and kind words, much appreciated!

Sincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback, very much appreciated. The acute angle of the boat was due to the guy rocking it back and forth to gain propulsion as the wind had dropped to almost nothing, but it looked good through the viewfinder of my camera.

Many thanks for your visit and kind words. I must admit I've never seen such quite intense colour in a sunset before, it looked good when the sun was just on the horizon, but gradually became more concentrated as the sun disappeared from view.

Kind Regards

Alf

Hello Alf,

Wonderful picture, You already have some many comments on this picture that it is difficult to add something.  From the 3 pictures taken of this sunset, i like this one best.  I think that is because of the reflection.  Ben

Amazing work, Alf. The exposure and composition are perfect...risky and spot on! How the heck do you do that? Your signature color treatment seal the deal...fabulous treat for the senses.

Good to hear from you! Many thanks for your positive feedback and kind words.  Well the composition was relatively easy, as I knew exactly where the little yacht was headed, and I was standing close to it's intended destination next to it's transport trailer. All I had to to was wait for it to get in the right position and click Gotcha! I did track it all the way back to the dock and took a few shots where it was leaning over at an angle but this shot seemed to be about right. The exposure I left the ISO at 200 and stopped the aperture down to f8 this gave me a shutter speed of 1/15 of a second, as I was shooting into the light, and was quite sufficient to get a crisp shot of the slow moving yacht. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it Tiffany!

Warm Regards

I am sorry for not having visited in quite a while.  Pease don't think it's because of lack of interest in your work.

Where do I begin?  The silouetting produces a bold reflection.  The colors are spectacular.  And your composition is spot on.

Although I found your narrative interesting, I do not get a sense of concern because of the lack of wind.  I do perceive a solitary sailor making his way home.  I find a real sense of peace in this scene.

My sincere compliments,

michael

[PS FWIW this is going in my "favorites".]

Very good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well.  I was very fortunate on this particular evening to get such a great sunset, the colours were amazing. I took quite a number of shots, but I think my favourite of the evening was another image I named "Evening Dippers" that is now in the Landscape section of my portfolio ..... I think.

My sincere thanks for your visit and positive comments, and I'm truly honoured you would consider this a favourite.

I'm glad you told Tiffany how you arrived at this shot Alf.  It truly is beautiful.  The colors are almost palatable...........beautiful!  Sincerely, Gail

Many thanks for your visit and kind words. I'm always happy to share any information about my images. It was one of those rare evenings that produce that rich colour and I was really lucky that it coincided with the wind dropping too.

I must have missed this beauty some where along the way Alf. Gorgeous color, and the slight ripples in the water help create a wonderful feeling of depth to this shot. Without those ripples this would still be a good shot, but with them it's an awesome shot. It's the little things that make all the difference sometimes.

All the best,
Neil

Sincere thanks for all your support and positive feedback. Although I knew those ripples were there, I perhaps didn't realise the full significance of them in the context you mentioned. Yes your right Neil sometimes it's the small details that make a difference, and sometimes it takes a keen eye like yours to point them out.

Cheer Neil
