A spectacular location George! You captured some good shadow detail in the foreground in this image, but had to sacrifice the sky, and highlight detail in the foreground to get it. This is a difficult, if not impossible, scene to capture in this sort of light with a single image. I'd suggest using HDR, either done by hand, or using software based tools, to get a more evenly exposed image with both good shadow, and highlight detail. Alternately a different time of day might get you some nicer light too.
