It's bettre than the last one because you're coming in from a better angle. although it's still too dull and you're getting some contrast problems which might just be the scanner. Keep playing.

I don't know very much about this photo stuff, really, but I did a bit of art when I was at school and it seems to me that while there is nothing technically wrong with the picture, maybe you could improve the composition a bit. You need to lead the eye to a point of focus, rather than have an organised mess which makes me think of a bachelor's study. On the other hand, you could spice it up nicely just by getting a woman with a pleasing figure to lie naked across all of that gunk.

because of contrast problem, each object lacks structural integrity. photo itself lacks structural integrity. imagine that you have a space, and that you must make that space function even with all this stuff in it. from there decontruct, looking at overall pattern as it plays out across the camera view. look at the greatest still life painter of all time-- Chardin. His work retains some sense of function, tht what we see here is a glimpse into a private world. Let someone glimpse your private world in action-- that will make a good still life. the world we see here would not function at all. it is in the process of being moved from one room to another. it doesn't "work".

Good going Adam, much better, I see what you were getting at. The above advice is good. I suggest that you be more specific. What would make you want to hang a still life on the wall and return to it to re-look at it repeatedly.

This is much better than #1. The rule I try to follow is when you think something is boring, you haven't isolated it enought. Crop closer, don't be afraid to let part of the scene slip out of the frame, people will still know what they are. Try getting some more sources of light on this compsition, candles maybe, either in the scene or off to the side creating interesting shadow effects. Maybe a mirror?

Just suggestions
