acarodp 0 Posted August 18, 2010 I don't know Haas very well, but I do like this photo. It has a strong pictorial quality and a hint of mystery in it. In terms of colors and lights it makes me think of Edward Hopper. Had been a painting (i.e. with complete freedom in placing the figures) I would have seen the walking man better a bit more on the left, but even like this, his rigid stride is one of the strongest points of the composition. On the other hand, I cannot avoid the feeling that everything is somewhat tilted to the left. It is likely a perspective effect (due to the windows on the upper right?) but it disturbs me a bit. m-pinto 0 Posted August 18, 2010 I agree with Luca ... This photo reminded me immediately of the American hyperrealism but I do not remember the names of painters. After a search on the net I came to two paintings from Jerry Ott ... These and many of Gregory Crewdson, and Edward Hopper. In this picture the roles are reversed: picture does not look photo capturing the reality but leads us to paint with their freedom of composition. Everything about her seems to have been staged but it was "only" an excellent "decisive moment". Compositional quality and full of “links” Good work! Thank you for sharing M Link to comment
