A clearing storm in the deep backcountry of Yellowstone National Park.

The stream you are seeing here is partially heated from geothermal

activity - so its water was luke warm. The storm, which ended about 2

hours before sunset, produced hail and heavy rain.

I am not sure what kind of conifers these trees are, but I know this area

of Yellowstone was one of the only places unscathed by the massive

wildfires of 1988. The trees there are gorgeous!

Any comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Also, please add

as a comment the name of these trees if you know what they are.

This is a good photograph. Just enough blur of the water to grab the color and leave a little bit of character to the streams flow, yet soft to not be distracting. Nice job.

I looked over your portfolio and you are an accomplished landscape photographer, what I didn't like was the copyright on this image, the only one in the portfolio, it spoiled the image for me.

Did you use a graduated filter on the camera or use photoshop?

Thanks Stuart. I copyrighted because of the size of the image, but I appreciate the feedback. I understand what you mean now that you say it. I used a grad in the field and then also one in photoshop ACR. Please check out my website if you'd like to see my full portfolio as I am slowly re-arranging and updating things here on photo.net and it is only a small sample of my overall body of work. Thanks so much for your kind words; I really appreciate it.

Definitely the best spot and timing you captured. Overall it's a good framing. I would commend your including so much of the stream if there had been a rock sticking out of the water (or comparable strong foreground).
