Thank you all for commenting. It's good to hear from you.

Donna, thank you. It is always so nice to hear from you. I actually bought some Elk antlers that had been processed into dog treats yesterday. It is supposed to be very nutrious for dogs. The antlers fall of the animals every year and then they grow a new set. There are no magnificent Elk being harmed for the sake of dog treats.  I think I live in a Garden of Eden too. I never get over the beauty all around me and I am so happy to be able to photograph it as best I can.

Warm wishes,

Linda

Thank you for posting the original, I think you have done a great job of the crop. For me there doesn't need to be any further added interest and the only advice I could offer would be to sit your camera on a tripod and wait untill he looked up, of course this isn't always possible as time can sometimes be the prevalent factor. But suffice to say I'm impressed!

Kind Regards

Alf

When I spotted this fellow I made my husband stop the car. I was so excited that my heart was beating and my hands were sweating. This often happens when I see incredible wildlife. My instinct is to just grab my camera and run, well truthfully I sort of limp quickly. I wish I could be calmer I know I would get better shots. I did sit in the grass and watched him graze for about 1/2 an hour. He didn't look up once. He just kept munching away.

Many years ago, before digital, I saw a similar Elk near this same spot. He went into the water and swam majestically right past me. I shot a roll of film. Some of the shots were fairly good I thought. But with my many moves from one end of the country to the other I lost them and the negatives. I thought I would never get another opportunity. I'm so glad that I did.

Warm wishes from Canada,

Linda

Great shot Linda.  You were not too far away from this magnificant animal. Lovely to see him grazing....often we do not see them so calm.  I can't get over the antlers.....No wonder he is 'scarred'.  I am sure he defends his territory very well.  Nicely done and presented, hope you are enjoying your weekend, sincerely, Gail
