These are mating Mandarin fish taken at dusk in North Sulawesi

Indonesia. Mating occurs for about 6 seconds in an environment that

is nearly total darkness.

I have observed mandarin fish in Borneo. Given their habits, I'm really amazed with the photo capture you managed!!

Thanks. I spent six evenings getting photos of these amazing animals and it was very, very difficult. Think of trying to focus in near darkness (spotting lights make them stop) and then having six seconds while they are busy to get the shot. I was fortunate to get about 30 images that I liked, this being one.

Sounds like tough business. The result is very good. Most of your other pictures are interesting too, good work, with difficult subjects. But all your images are very small to appreciate. I wish you would upload bigger ones.

I like your photos, Steve. I wish they were larger in size to better emphasize on details. Also, you too often center the main subject in the frame, which isn't always good compositionally. The colours rendition and exposure are very good thou.

For information purposes, none of my photography is done from tanks (it is incredibly difficult to do tank photographs well) and in any case Mandarin fish do not mate in tanks.
