Matt Laur 2,201 Posted July 23, 2010 A shot at some reflective surface product lighting with a low-key set. Had to work quickly while that apple stayed fresh looking. Thanks for feedback, as I'm still wrestling with this type of project. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 446 Posted July 23, 2010 For us they certainly go together, but ask the apple, ha!PDE Link to comment

dgilson 2 Posted July 23, 2010 Use pure lemon juice on the apple and it will not turn brown.I like the shot. Nice looking knife too. Link to comment
kendrawise 0 Posted September 28, 2010 Matt, Things I like: The reflections of both knife and apple -- very well done, not too overpowering but still add a strong compositional element to the shot. Lighting -- clear, brings out detail without distracting highlights. Knife handle -- very beautiful, and the blade is well-shown. Thing that made me go hmmm..... That knife's blade appears to be too small to slice the apple as it's shown. The apple was clearly cut with a single cut, but the knife in the photo would probably have to do the job in two cuts. This discrepancy bothers me somewhat, as I interpret the relationship between the knife and the apple to be one of cutter / cuttee. Link to comment
Matt Laur 2,201 Posted September 28, 2010 Thanks, Kendra. Busted! Of course you're right. I should have used a smaller apple, or shown a wedge out of one. Duly noted! Link to comment
