danbliss 0 Posted May 29, 2010 Wow. That is an amazing capture. I'm thinking it might be time to clean the window. Maybe that's just me. Nicely done. Dan Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 29, 2010 HI Dan; I had a wide grin when I walked past these characters on the street and was glad that I always carry my little G10 around with me. Having had Great Pyrenees dogs for the last twenty years I can attest that cleaning drool off of car windows is a regular and never ending task. I am going to guess that a Saint Bernard would greatly accelerate that cycle :-) As always nice to hear from you and thanks for dropping by. Link to comment
lliebl 5 Posted May 30, 2010 What a comical sight! Must be "economy class"---no headroom. No sense in cleaning the window----I've chauffeured my son's black lab enough to know it's futile. Thanks for a laugh, Gordon. ~~~~L Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted May 31, 2010 Yes, you certainly couldn't pass THIS up! Looks like they had a night on the town last night (red eyes!).....funny! Their expressions are so similar, and I love the reflections in the window below them so you don't see the inside of the car or lower half of the dogs. Actually.....come to think of it, you can hardly see the reflections for the drool.... :-) but never mind. Great shot! Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted June 2, 2010 Linda; Glad to know I've provided some humor in your day as that was my intention. Not a lot of headroom in a compact suv with dogs this big. Christal; Now that you mention it this pair do look like they are suffering the consequences of a hard nigh on the town. Alberta; Yuck! indeed... looks like time for a trip to the car wash. jeffl7 0 Posted June 4, 2010 The drool is killer. The color works perfectly, saturated just enough to add to the whimsy. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted June 4, 2010 I am wondering what the back seats look like. NO, NO, I'm not anymore... I really don't want to know! Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted June 5, 2010 I can barely write because the tears flowing from my laughing eyes have blinded me. This is one incredible photo, Gordon. God only knows where else that stuff has flown. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 8, 2010 There's little doubt that you were a canine in at least one of your past lives. I don't know anyone who connects with dogs like you except maybe The Dog Whisperer. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted June 12, 2010 Tatjana; :) Jeff; Whimsical seemed to fit, thanks. Shawn; I did not look cuz I did not wanna know either. Liz; Happy to give you a good chuckle. Yeah I imagine that stuff winds up everywhere. I would not want to be driving behind these guys when the window is down... you'd need your wipers turned on. Jack; Just another side effect of my animal magnetism. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted June 18, 2010 Just back for another visit......decided to put this in my favorites because it brings me such a chuckle every time I look at it. :-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 20, 2010 There's an appropriate cartoon feeling to this. The pinks are like ice cream cones and I like the way the little bit of blue sky / leafy reflection works over on the left. Great expressions. It's a whole other world. Very cool! Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted June 21, 2010 Amal; Thanks for the comment and yes i was forunate that they were in the mood to give me a good pose. Christal; I am happy to find out that you are still getting a chuckle from this , I'll admit it still gives me a grin. Fred; I had this one kicking around on my hard drive for a long time without arriving at any sense of how to approach the image. It made me laugh but I could not decide on how to photographically convey the way it struck me. Jeff mentioned whimsical and you bring up the idea of a cartoon. Cartoon describes well what I wanted to evoke with this treatment so I was glad to read your reaction. As you know I seldom go way over to the right side with those saturation sliders and I steer clear of that whole hdr look so this was a bit of a departure for me. Like most cartoons a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 23, 2010 I'm so familiar with scenes like this. My old 4Runner is often decorated with dog drool racing stripes. And don't even let 'em get baked in by the sun!! Link to comment
