Another early morning sunrise at Banff. Just west of town, one of my

favorite vantage points. Please do view larger. All comments and

suggestions welcome as always. Thank you for looking.

Michael......seeing shots like this may call me to visit my daughter in Calgary even sooner than I had planned.  I've yet to visit in the winter, or with much snow on the peaks......can't wait to do that.  This is gorgeous lighting!  I'm trying to figure out where this is.....you said west of Banff?  I can't think of any lake just west of Banff.

Excellent landscape!

Congrats.

I'm not so sure about the blue shadows on the rocks, maybe you should darken a little bit the lower part of the image

Thank you everyone for your comments. Christal, the lake is the 3rd Vermillion. The series of 3  lakes is just outside Banff townsite to the west and can be seen from the highway.

Another beautiful shot. The detail in the forground is excellent and leads the eye into the water with those beautiful reflections. The stillness of the early morning must be beautiful for shooting.

Another PN'r, Greg Pichnej and his wife are out in B.C. right now. He also does wonderful work. (neighbor and a great 'tutor' when I lived in Newcastle, Ontario). He emailed me yesterday and said they'd planned to come home through the mountains but so many 'snowslides' have cut off the highways. But is going to still go through Banff.  You certainly have had your share of snow this year!  And the summer is so short. We have had over a week with humidity in the 30's....too strange our weather these days. Cheers for now, Gail
