Fascinating, Alf. Due to the clarity of the water, it's actually difficult to tell that the water's there! A stunning slice of nature.

Thank you for stopping by, the sun had just dropped below the mountains behind me, with the resulting soft light. I really appreciate your comments Marc.

You would NEVER be included in any guesswork concerning anon 3/3 ratings, you have always been very helpful and thoughtful in your critiques and always come across as a straight talking kind of guy. People who do rate low anonymously on quality images like yours and others are only kidding themselves, as it is only the majority of people that do comment, that are worthy of any consideration at all.

Thank you for your kind comments and ratings Tony.

It was a rare moment to catch this mountain lake in this very calm state, it is usually very windy at this location, and it was the first time I realised just how crystal clear the water actually is up there. Thanks for your kind comments Calvin.

Sincere Thanks To All

Jannica and Linda have used most of the adjectives for us women....and I agree whole heartedly. Fantastic spot....you must have gotten so excited when you viewed your capture on your 'playback'......continue to enjoy while we impatiently wait to see what you have for us next......sincerely, Gail

One of my favourite places and what a great job you have done. You have picked out the amazing rock formations of Cwm idwal and the Idwal Slab. the clarity of the water and the reflections are superb. You can only be delighted with the new lens if it produces images like this.

The reflection in this shot is indeed out of the ordinary, part of it really looking as if it stands out (in relief) above the lake. That has a weird effect and makes me truly reflect! Regards, Tibi

Thank you sincerely, I did get a bit excited, a rare emotion for a british person : - )

Seriously though I was quite suprised at just how clear the water and the image was, the calm stillness didn't last very long as the breeze picked up again soon after this shot. I don't know whats next, I have a few similar shots to this, but this posting and the last one are a hard act to follow (for me) so I might try something a bit more sombre Thanks again Gail

Thanks for stopping by, it truly is an awe inspiring place, not the easiest place to photograph I don't think, because of the high mountains all round curtailing the light, but a very beautiful spot. As for the 16- 35mm lens, I am very pleased with the results so far, I will have a chance to try the Nikon 17- 35mm shortly and should be able to make a comparison between them, it is an older lens, and more expensive, but tried, tested and trusted by many professionals. I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again John

Hi Alf,  -  hard to fully express how good this is,  like describing a very fine wine !

However, here goes, beautiful tones and composition.  Really like how clearly one can see the stones.  First couple of times I viewed it am sure it was available large size, but last two times the large size did not seem to be an option - not sure why that should be.  Glad you are so happy with your new lens.  Jim

Many Thanks for your very encouraging comments Jim, the clarity of the water was also what struck me. I'm not sure about the larger version you viewed as I haven't changed the resolution or file size in any way, but the larger original file does have even more detail and is good advert for the new Nikon lens. As for your anaology of describing a "fine wine" I am very flattered. Thanks again Jim

Kind Regards

Alf
