I only don't understand why flash when it's taken with 1000mm focal length. I mean since it isn't only the head on the picture it must be that far that flash can't do anything, even the flash GN58?!

Canon 580 EX II with Better Beamer Flash Extender (Fresnel lens) will light underside and add catch-light at 1000mm, Pierre - no problem. It's not so much about the focal length, Pierre, as it is the distance to subject.

This looks great Christopher, very nicely framed. The colour of the foliage in the background compliments the bird very well.

I tend to be bored by bird shots although the subject is interesting in principle. This shot is very exciting and has a mix of good photographic elements. Well done.
