New to the site and my first attempt at an orchid

mike, orchid images are a dime a dozen here on p/n, everyone seems to have a go with them. this would be one of nicest compositions of the flower i have seen. it just somehow fits so smoothly within the frame. a lovely image to open your account here at p/n. Living proof that simplicity rules!!

First let me say welcome to PN. I agree with Roger that we all do or have done orchid shots. You have done an excellant job of capturing the flowers themselves - sharp focus, good color and contrast. The simplicity in the shot is obvious and compelling. I am debating for myself if the continuing stem and buds add to the picture and story or if they carry me away from the beauty of the flowers. It is a different shot but you might try cloning out at the edge of the flower and making this a vertical composition to see how that would work. I take a lot of orchid shots and calla shots and find they offer similar problems, and I agree this is one of the better I have seen. - Charles
