Winter Tempest

harrylichtman

During a snowy cross country ski on Lone Mountain Ranch's cross country ski trails. Heavy falling snow prevented any views of the surrounding Spanish Peaks, but made for some more intimate images. The reddish tree trunks immediately caught my eye in contrast to the white surroundings. There is nothing better in winter than snow caked on everything - except in theis case the trunks.

During a snowy cross country ski on Montana's Lone Mountain Ranch's

cross country ski trails. Heavy falling snow prevented any views of the

surrounding Spanish Peaks, but made for some more intimate images.

The reddish tree trunks immediately caught my eye in contrast to the

white surroundings. There is nothing better in winter than snow caked

on everything - except in theis case the trunks. Wile difficult to see on

the web version, the falling snow is rendered as small streaks or solid

specks. My one regret is that a slower shutter speed wasn't used to

create a more streaking impression of the snow. I had decided to leave

the tripd in the car during the ski, as the fresh snow was so deep that

setting up a tripod would have been difficult.

Your impressions welcome.

Somehow eerily beautiful! I bet it was cold and quiet, unless the wind was blowing. Everything is just right, sans tripod, so it wasn't needed.
