This tree is at the White Pocket named for the pockets of water in the

slickrock formed after rain. I've never had the opportunitty to be there

when there was a lot of water, but I have seen the results.

Thanks for your ratings and comments.

Lovely tones _ I like the subdued light _ would prefer the tree not to be so central but that is just a matter of taste on this very fine image. 6/6

This composition really caught my attention. The contrast between the dry rock and the living tree is as captivating as it is unexpected. The contrast in colour, too, from soft pink to green, is very effective. There is beautiful harmony between the predominantly rounded lines and folds of the rock and the verticality of the tree. Excellent capture!

Outstanding location and great picture. I like the composition but would love to see the tree with stronger light on it. Excellent. regards, erik

A solitary tree that managed to find a foothold amid an undulating blanket of rock is a great subject. Even though the tree is central, the rocks and clouds contribute to asymmetry, and I like how you've framed it.

Excellent landscape William. I think a little more contrast could be an improvement and I do agree with Tony about centering the tree. It becomes static, while moving it off center creates some tension, which draws the viewer. Still, what an excellent subject and a wonderful scene!!

I agree with the comments about the centering and contrast. Its very difficult to get a good pic of this tree with it off center because of the way it is surrounded by the brain rock. You need to shoot long or the tree becomes taller than the rock to the left of it which seems to unbalance the composition for me. I'll look at it again next time I get there.
