The second day after the lunar New Year many Mongolians visit an Ovoo

on the Bogd Khan mountain, high above Ulaanbaatar. They get up very

early to be at the top when the sun rises. Thanks for feedback and

rating. Karl

Karl its always a pleasure to view your work, great information and super POV you got hear. Looks like a real industrial work horse down there. Excellent documentary shot of this Festival event. Best regards Carl

I may never be able to see this, but your photos allow us all to look at other cultures. Thanks!

Karl, you must have a book lurking somewhere. I love looking at your shots of life in remote places. Please keep them coming.

Another interesting and excellent shot from you Karl. I was up there too on New years day, though walking on the hills behind. We may have crossed tracks! Erik

Dear all, thank you very much for your comments.

Carl, the work horse is the Power Plant 3 which provides electric energy and keeps the houses of Ulaanbaatar warm.

Dominick, you have the comfort to look at it from your cosy living room while people like Erik and I are exposed to temperatures below -25°C to witness it.

Jeff, I think the lurking book has still to wait some years until my retirement ;-(.

Linda, I am glad to know that I have an abiding follower on my journeys.

Erik, I guess one day we will meet. By the way, have you been on Wednesday at the Eagle Hunting Festival in Nukht? I followed the internet announcement and went to Terelj where I enjoyed some lonely hills and valleys :-(.

Karl, please put me on the pre-order list. I really hope that you do it. You have an exceptional collection of images. I for one would love to see them as a book.

Hi Karl, ah! so that is what happened. I had planned to go, but something came up and couldn't go at the last minute - i directed some friends to tereldj, following information on the internet. They found no eagles, but like you, had a good day out nevertheless. Erik

Another great image from you. No need for a subscription to Geo or National Geographic, seeing your work :-) Your camera point seems to be on an even higher peak there ? Or did you rent a helicopter ... ?
