dawsonjm 0 Posted February 13, 2010 Scanned from an old (1969) print. I just found it after many years, but I still remembered taking this portrait with my new Spotmatic. I was really proud of actually getting her picture against such strong background light. It doesn't look nearly as good now as I remembered, but time seems to take its toll. Link to comment
aungshita_chatterjee 0 Posted February 14, 2010 This is a difficult portrait because of such strong back light. I think some fill light would have been helpful. It lacks contrast. Black is not at all matured. Grey gamma is flat. Link to comment
dawsonjm 0 Posted February 15, 2010 Aungshita, Thank you for your comments. This was a 40 year old 3x5 print, and one of the first that I tried to scan and improve upon. I don't understand the term "black maturity", nor "grey gamma". I tried using Lightroom to process the scan, but I really don't know how to make this a stronger photo. Any help would really be appreciated. I understand now about fill light, but at the time of the capture, I didn't own a flash, and would not have known how to use it anyway. Thanks again, John Link to comment

htarragon 8 Posted April 23, 2013 John, I've liked this photo since the first time I saw it some time ago. I've done some tweaking (dodging, sharpening). I think it helps. Again, I like the photo.Hmm... I liked the haziness of the original. I would have to add a haze layer. Link to comment
