JANNICA

Thank you for your very kind comments and observations. We also have had more snow this year than I can ever remember having before, very beautiful but as you indicate, the novelty soon wears off, unless your 6 years old and don't care about falling over and getting wet! Keep Safe Jannica !

Kind Regards Your Good Freind

PAMELA

Thank You, I'm really pleased you like it, yes it was a pleasant suprise, not the usual type of suprise where I find I've included a beer can or plastic bag in the frame!

Ahhh yeah, the socks errrm well I've only got three and change them one at a time, so I never have a matching pair : - ) ..........thought that was a good excuse, but No I promised you socks and socks you will have! .........soon.

Thanks Pamela Take Care.

JIM

Thanks Jim, I think I prefer it to the original also, it's still on my portfolio under "single photo's" named "Tough At The Top".. but that was a HDR photo, and I made a few errors in the processing with that one, really pleased you like this one Jim

KEITH

Thanks mate, yeah I think I was very lucky, despite a comment above inferring this phononemon is common, .....well suffice to say I've never seen one before, and only very recently seen a photo of one by "Chip Phillips" he had it published in the magazine "Digital Photo" issue no 126 he actually states "I have never witnessed anything like this before, and am very glad I was there to witness it"

I think that says it all really. I appreciate your kind comments and observations Keith.

Cheers mate

JOHN (Crosley)

Thank you so much for that clear concise explanation John, I must admit it wasn't untill recently reading Chip Phillips comments on his photograph "The Opening Of Heavens Gate" that I found out how this phononemon was caused, the only area where I would differ with your comments is just how common it is, a "very common" phononemon would not need any explanation at all, many thanks for looking in John, much appreciated.

NEIL

Thank you for looking in, and for your very kind comments, the foreground is peppered with sheep footprints, but there was no escaping them, they were everywhere, but on reflection, they look quite effective.

Thank you for your kind observations, it's the little things that make a difference sometimes, a tree, a rock, a gate, in this case the sky, but I got lucky there!

Very cool image, Alf. I like it even more that the halo was an "extra bonus" to the beauty here. I love the lone tree's silhouette.

i like your processing here better than on the other version ( not because its not HDR. i like HDRs).

Alf, I am becoming very fond of this tree. It is becoming your trademark. Here it seems to have divine light behind and above it. It may be a halo, but it looks like a rainbow to me. This is an image that elevates the spirit. Very well done. Best wishes, Linda

Naturally everyone has stated in glowing terms on another excellent landscape, so I'll just say DITTO. Take care my friend.

LINDA

I know what you mean Linda, the tree does have a certain appeal, the fact that it is growing from a limestone pavement makes it all the more fascinating to me. Thanks for your very kind comments and observations.

is what comes to mind viewing this neat composition. The halo, the tree and the curved horizon dance in it!

Very nice image. I really like the halo and the lone tree on the horizon. The warm sky and cool snow contrast nicely. Well done.

Absolutely beautiful!  The balance of color, the composition, and the exposure are superb.  And a bit of luck with the rainbow/halo makes this truly exceptional!  Best regards, Jeff

JEFF

There were three of us taking photo's of this lone tree, for some reason I decided to shoot it from a different angle than the other two more excperienced photographers, and consequently caught the Halo in my shot, so yeah, I really was lucky! Many thanks for your kind words and positive feedback Jeff.

Alf,

I can fully understand going your own way with the aspect of the tree, all superlatives and praise have gone before me.  The light and composition of this particular image is truly wonderful and a credit to your skills and individuality.

I'd very much like to view a larger version 800 odd pixels wide does not do this image justice I feel.....

Matthew.

Sincere Thanks for your visit and encouraging comments. You just happen to have picked one of my favourites and I agree the small file doesn't really do it justice. I have it as wallpaper on my PC in work and it looks better larger. The only trouble is, that when you load the images larger, there are some unscrupulous individuals and organisations that upload these files for thier own financial ends. I have even seen some of my images on other photography websites, who haven't had any permission to use them. And of course I'm not the only one, I know a few photographers that have had similar experiences.........on the positive side though I suppose it's a kind of back handed compliment that they bother to steal them. : - )

Cheers Mathew
