Kudos for seeing this amazing scene and capturing it so beautifully. Everyone is correct that the choice to make this B&W is right on. The placement, slightly to the left of center makes the composition very strong. Good detail in both highlights and shadows. Terrific photograph, Deb!

This is a very rugged and Iconic image of the rough life of Fisher people.

The constant worry of grounding a boat or getting nets caught on unexpected snags..... You have done very well in capturing this.

I like the "bleakness" as displayed. I also like the darker bottom half contrasted to the lighter upper portion.

THANK YOU for your comments! It's solitude and reflection caught my eye and I was intrigued by the net filled with debris almost molded onto the stump. I'm so thrilled you saw the depth of the image.
