jlmyers07 0 Posted January 25, 2010 I took lots of photos at the Race Track and only a couple HDRs, This image is HDR, I felt with the dramatic sky and soft floor that HDR would make the image as a hole more dramatic, any thoughts? Link to comment
stuhagenphotography 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Fantastic shot. You post work is excellent. I love the contrast and you've chosen the perfect rock. The fact that it's broken in two really adds that little something that makes this shot yours. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted January 26, 2010 An amazing shot....your HDR efforts certainly paid off....I envy your path in life and all that you've seen. I shall visit often and learn as I go, as you have some amazing images here for us all to see.....most sincerely, Gail Link to comment
richard_john_edwards 0 Posted January 26, 2010 This is a Great Image, Once again, I wonder what some people are thinking when they rate images, I noticed this image received a 4 for easthetics and a 3 for originality?? Give me a break, this image is pleasurable on the eye 7 and to me is very original 7. Well Done!! Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Amazing image. I think the HDR treatment on this only enhances the visual impact of this image. I like the dramatic sky and the textured foreground. Your composition is impeccable, the track line leading the eye into the frame towards the most exciting part of the sky scape is outstanding. Great work - truly - michel Link to comment
melloncollie 0 Posted January 26, 2010 your tight composition and dark skies are very effective. great shot. Link to comment
aeg 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Excellent image. Love the 3D effect created by the HDR processing on the cracked earth which continues all the way to the foot of the mountains. Regards Link to comment
jlmyers07 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Thank you so much everyone! I always get so nervous when doing an HDR because it's so hard at the time to really know how it's going to turn out in the end. Thanks again!! Link to comment
jefvandenhoute 0 Posted January 27, 2010 The strong composition givesa 3D effect to the image. Great tone handling Link to comment
fpessolano 0 Posted January 27, 2010 Very well seen. I love the tone mapping you did here. Very dramatic. Link to comment
johne37179 29 Posted January 28, 2010 What makes this HDR so great, is that it doesn't look like it's HDR. Link to comment
gary_young2 0 Posted January 28, 2010 I love this photo, Great Depth of field, and Composition. I just watched a story on these rocks on the Discovery channel. It was very interesting. They say that the rocks move at a speed of 3mph at times after it rains, Great Work Link to comment
bettiecl 0 Posted January 31, 2010 of al the images of this magical place, which I visited recently - this one is the only one that captures the mood Ive experience there too. Just beyond wonderful, Josh. Now I will HAVE to get started on HDR. :-) Link to comment
acjtucson 0 Posted January 31, 2010 This came out great. It is very dramatic. I keep trying to get some HDRs that don't look like HDRs and rarely succeed. I haven't been back to Racetrack since I started doing HDRs but am dying to go. I think you did a good job with the smoothing. The foreground, IMHO, looks a bit bright and contradictory though in regards to the sky. At first I thought it was a very stormy morning. It looks like there is a dark band across the top 10% of the photo which doesn't seem to fit in with the other sunrise clouds. Also, the horizon looks a little slanted down to the right. No, I haven't had my coffee yet this morning. Lastly, and separately, if anyone with any clout at Photo.Net is reading this, why not start a Gallery for HDR? It seems to me to be a different art form from, for lack of a better term and no offense intended, straight photography. I'd love to browse through HDR landscapes. I think they're very interesting and dramatic and fun to look at. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted July 2, 2011 Having been at the Race Track, I must tell you this is one fine image. We left before the light ever to this point because we to drive that wonderful road out of there before it got dark. Seeing this makes me wish we had spend the night. This is just superb Josh, easily one of the best I have seen from this area. Link to comment
