Yes, so much is happening in the moment when you click ...and you are actually not even there...then your photo proves different...:) the photo has incredible amount of layers ... the bicycle as the symbol of movement....lamp as a symbol of idea .. Some thinking people ...some are just there...some confused....:) City behind the window...trees ....river or lake...And you caught the light passing by trough all this ,trying to hide behind the fence ...Jack you are suspicious...:))) !!! Are you secretly flying trough the time ???! :)

P. S. Sorry my English

I do notice you are taking great care about the verticals. This is quite lively juxtaposition of details, most succesfull part being on the left side up to the reflection of you.

You aligned very well that glowing wall lamp over the head, as well your own reflection very next to the document being looked at, to the center of interest. You sorta act as a middle man, a messenger, forwarding but leaving the meaning of this gathering open for our imagination.

Talking about secondary "delights", those reflections of arched dark windows so well over those two men on left: on the far left I can fool myself seeing him wearing a duo-color jacket while the arc under the lamp mimics the shoulder of the "bright man".

Further the chain of bicycle wheels across the frame breaks the angular pattern of on the upper part. Once again I see about all bicycles being with ladies frames (sloping top tube on the frame). Jack, have you ever seen a bicycle with men's frame around you? That must be a curiosity, IMHO. ;-)

Ghosts in real life. Haunting. I like how you come into awareness in the middle of them, suddenly like a Polaroid. As the viewer, I feel a little shut out. Like looking through the gates of Eden into a fallen and confused world.

and even then, it is so confusing... you are there in "half". It really looks like layers of reflections containing fences, bikes, people, geometric construction ,window, bar....

Trompe - L'oeil works perfectly in this frame. I looked and looked and admired.

Pnina is right. This needs to be seen large. It just comes to life when seen large. The men behind the glass certainly do seem to be apparitions, and I see more separation than connectedness. This is one that needs to be studied.

I notice that you have removed most of your portfolio. I hope you have just archived it for spring cleaning, and will bring much of it back once you have edited.

you got some serious wizardry going on here Jack with you staring in your own production. The Magus returning to stage in a scene photograph that seems casual at first glance until you notice balletic precision choreographed with characters deliberately in place, with you starring as the overseeing unobserved observer, not immediately noticed but soon inviting the viewer for a little ride into a kaleidoscopic three dimensional wonderland. Such an hilarious frame AND title this is!

and what a great buzz it is to snap a super special picture once in awhile. Ansel Adams said we photographers should consider ourselves fortunate to get one great picture in a month of steady shooting. I take pictures in part because the odds are I can sometimes arrive at one that may be as good as this one is.

Very nice, indeed. I feel like they are wearing the architecture behind you. Textured cement tailored to fit. A tableau of the busy business, something important, with everyone's wheels turning and the design like a stage. The guy turning his head brings candor and your inclusion of the maestro, yourself, reflects the craft.

No big deal!

You have done something that is easy to do using some 10-15 layers in PS!!!

Actually, I should have said "easier" ;)

Jack,

This is a treat for the eyes & the minds.

I read this image more as the story of a dedicated photographer.

I agree with what Carlos has said and I hope this one reaches a much wider audience.

Superb work. There is so much going on in this picture it's easy to get lost in time looking for all the details and how they fit together. I have a feeling of traveling through time and space when i look at some of your images. I like the geometric layer of windows and arches, the geometric element is nearly always present in your photos, grounding them, giving a frame of reference. I also often feel like a voyeur when i look at your images as they seem to capture people, expressions or elements which were not meant to be seen by others. Regards - michel

Such a lineup of my favorite photographers commenting on this photo...I'm really very grateful for your support and suggestions. You've made me a better photographer although not necessarily a more contented one. You guys keep setting the bar higher and it's all I can do to try to keep up. For a wordsmith such as myself, I now find that I'm mute, To quote my own title: I don't even know what to say anymore. Except maybe, thanks.
