Of all your pictures, this one is truly the most compelling. First..the quality of the lens/focal/light/contrast/resolution is very impressive not to say flawless. Second...the fat nose and mouth of the animal have tremendous character, so does its mane. Last is the expression in his eyes and I think that's what makes this picture a truly unique and perfect catch...it makes you have compassion for the animal. There is no anger or rage or even sadness, there is comprehension, acceptance and what is very surprising and the the most captivating...there is contemplation...deep thought. This is what makes it so hypnotic...our own realization that there is intelligent life beyond the human realm...no one could say that this creature is not having some form of thoughts...it's obvious, it's shocking and yet comforting...a strange mix of emotions that makes you realize that all sentient life is not only stuck in the human genome, but in other mammal forms too. In the end though...the quality of your lens and how you captured this moment is what impresses me (I am a cold hearted bastard) and so is this lion but he sure has nobility. I hope I have some of that but I doubt it. Animals are true to their self and the nature of things in general. The genius of your picture is that it says that clearly, simply, univoquely. It is what it is. You can't beat that.

Yes, it  has a sad look. And  the beard all ready  white, so,  he  is  not  young anymore. An excellent shoot good composition and  very  nice contrast.
