Hi Nicole,

Thought I would look at some of yours and I was really drawn to this image. Very creative and well executed! I really like how you were able to take a rather ordinary scene and make it so interesting. Bravo.

Thanks for stopping by! This was one of those mornings when the snow was hard and crunchy and the light was slanting and golden and I knew I just had to be out in it. Other photographers probably could have made something better out of this landscape but that's why I'm here asking for help!

Thanks again for looking, I'm glad you liked this one :)

Beautiful shot Nicole, excellent point of view I love de details in the drops, for me it is a little bit mysterious because of the fog on the background.

Majorly cool photograph, Nicole. This has a really superb mood from that light; it borders on ethereal. I wonder if you cropped down from the top and removed about 2/3rds of the bright sun, and then just a skosh up from the bottom you might even make this more mysterious? I really love the glowing light on the frost right at the top of the bramble. A really terrific image, Nicole! Cheers! Chris

What glorious diffused light, streaming down and bathing everything with a false warmth. Lovely work, Nicole.

Great photo and great concept and visualization!

The layering, the seeming transparency, the almost dancelike capture of golden light on the snow crystals in the underbrush, the plays of texture, the gentleness of ambiance, all wonderful.

I hesitate about the blown highlight, which just doesn't seem to fit in the overall approach, style, and sensibility with which the scene is being handled. It's not a particularly "edgy" content or composition, so I'm not sure how that element of heat works toward the vision.

Also, though there is a significant contrast from the underbrush to the mood of the trees and golden lighting, one which really is effective, there's an ashen grayness to the underbrush which doesn't work for me. Though it is obviously more subdued and in shadow, I find it having a bit too morose a levels change from the rest of the photo. The contrast and feeling, I think, could be maintained, but with a slightly different visual tonality and level or richness, more shadowed and subdued white than gray.

Dave and Jonathan, thank you so much :) That was the reason I had to capture this scene, it was magical being there!
