Teakettle Junction, Death Valley

eddie g.

I welcome all your comments. But, please note, this is a fun plastic-lens Holga camera, not a boring $2500 Mamiya 7. Vignetting and soft edges are a trademark of Holga. Shooting slide film with it is a nice challenge. This particular camera was modified by Holgamods.com and was fitted with waistlevel finder. No filters were used. Scanned the slide on Epson 2450 scanner and color matched in Paintshop Pro 7 to the actual slide. No modifications or digital tricks were done to the picture.

We found this signpost in the middle of Death Valley desert in

California, USA. The only sign of civilization in miles. There were

notes inside each teakettle. One read, "This kettle brought all the

way from Germany especially to leave here." I particularly like the

reflection of the photographers and the sun in that one shiney

kettle. Photo was taken at high noon with no flash available, so hard

shadows were unavoidable.
