Don, thanks for your comment.

I should say that this film was actually pushed to 1600, so that I could confortably hand-hold my camera inside the museum (tripods are not allowed).

This is the reading room inside the great court at the British

Museum. It was shot with a 50mm lens, tri-x film pushed to 1600.

I would appreciate comments specifically on exposure and composition.

Thanks.

Excellent exposure, with nice shadow detail, especially at 1600. Composition is also very nice; it gives the impression that the books themselves are holding up the roof. This might be enhanced by cropping a bit from the bottom.

If possible, I might have taken another shot from a few feet to the right of your position, to try to expose the full interior of the arch above the clock but I can't say for sure if that would be an improvement.

GREAT shot!! Love the light and contrast. COntrast in every sense, the lower zone full of books almost without free space but the upper zone looks ethereal, clean and well illuminated. A real winner.

A bit too cluttered for my taste in the bottom.. perhaps quite unavoidable. Great architecture shot!
