I think this is a bit full frontal but compositional choices were limited, and I didn't want

to let those clouds go by. Your comments are most welcome, thanks.

I think this works pretty well. You have done a masterful job of taming the high contrast lighting conditions and preserving a full-range of exposure values and tones. That sky is simply killer! I find that images taken with these kinds of conditions to be very challenging, both in the capture and in the post-processing; which makes it all the more satisfying when you pull one off like you have here, Jeff. The three trees and three large boulders work well together too. This baby just glows with light! Cheers! Chris

Magnificient clouds, Jeff. The exposure is spot-on. A higher camera point would separate the foreground elements better, but I guess nobody is carrying a ladder to places like this... :-)

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Chris, this sky was really something.I was driving looking for some FG interest to go with them for quite a while. Funnily enough, this works better in B&W than colour. In colour the sky is less well balanced.

Peter, I agree about the ladder but the wind was blowing so hard that I would probably have been blown off. This was one of those rare times when I was concerned about how stable my tripod was.

Very Lovely Jeff! Dynamite sky, looks similar to what Chris and I know as the Sierra Wave, a series of lenticular clouds that often drift along the Eastern Sierra Nevada in California.

Thanks Mark. There were clouds like these around for a few days. I don't know the area well enough yet to know whether they are normal for this time of year or not. They were quite spectacular.

I join the rest, the sky are special and attract attention very fast, but the whole has an atmospher of a windy lonely untouched nature corner. The trees are looking skewed by the wind and the rocks are adding to it. The B/W and huge open space(sky! ) are very well executed. Touching

I'm glad you decided to do this in b&w because it brings out all the drama of the scene and moreover that fabulous sky. Nice one Jeff.
