Guest Guest Posted December 11, 2009 mj, Got to love a girl with a French manicure! She is a very pretty girl. You have focused well on her eye. The composition is very good. Her make-up looks good. The background is nicely out of focus. The pendant on her neck chain is positioned perfectly on her chest. The lighting is excellent. Her skin tone is very nice. The lighting on her hair helps to separate her from the background. The profile is done very well. Even thought she is wearing a print top it is hardly a distraction because of the muted colors. The railing provides good leading lines to the subject. The horizon line cuts into the front of her face, but it isn't too annoying because it is out of focus. The contrast is very good. Avoid having the back of the hand towards the camera. The edge (side) of the hand towards the camera is thinning, feminine and graceful. Be careful of foreshortening. Watch for anything closer to the camera than the body. If nearer the camera than her body her feet, knees, hands, elbows and shoulders can look out of proportion to the rest of the body -- larger than normal -- foreshortened. She is turned at a slight angle to the camera which helps to make her body look slimmer, more feminine and more graceful. She could be turned a bit more. About 45 degrees is good. The lines you see from an angle have more apparent motion, interest and grace. Be careful of having her arms resting on something that high. It can make the shoulders raise up a bit which can look rather masculine. Nice shot, Mark Link to comment
