I like the shallow DOF used here. Not sure about the white balance - looks a bit greenish yellow perhaps...the blue thing in the foreground is a bit distracting. Also, what is the subject doing here? It comes off a bit un-organic here - I would but some very hot water or tea in the cup there and hold it and then ponder. For portraits I try to always ensure I have some "catch light" in the shot. Not sure if you have a flash to toy around with, but that would be nice to bring up some light onto the face and add some "catch light" to give a bit of life to the shot.
