Imagine that day please: Rebel G (a.k.a., cheapshit) - first camera

ever, cheap kit zoom - first lens ever, and my first or second B&W

roll - ever... My first model, and my first serious shooting day.

 

I had done some reading on B&W photography, and studied my camera

manual, and that was it. I still like this portrait.

Very nice portrait. Contrast seems a bit high for my tastes, but you may like it that way. If this is your first attempt, I'd say you're off to a great start! Keep it up!

The contrast is a bit high; you might try printing it on a softer paper. You might also burn the teeth just a bit to get some definition. They show as almost a white line.

 

Nice sharp focus, good use of DOF to isolate your subject, and a hint of catch light in the eyes to liven things up.
