Well, Liz, it seems my comment was a little off track. A case of 'Critique in haste, repent at liesure'? Let me restate: I really like the rich red/brown of the leaves and the little shadows they create; I also like the way the light catches the trees! I certainly admire the way you have captured both the light and shadow so very well. Cheers Adrienne

This has a reserved elegance that I love. This isn't the usual autumn fare. I love the dark sombre colours in the background and rhythm of the leaves as the the dance across the frame. The colours, the mood, the light and composition are wonderful. Best wishes from Canada. Linda

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to comment.

Adrienne, I appreciate what you've added. Don't worry, I change my mind many times after I post, and sometimes, I lie awake at night and worry about why I didn't say so! I, too, write faster than I think.

Liz, that was a nice thing to say. What this has done is taught me to look for what the photographer was trying to express and not what I would have tried to express. I really do like these kinds of images, but usually the bright part is overexposed, so this really is sucessful. Cheers Adrienne

Simple and exquisite image, Liz. A delight of colors, shadows, light control and DOF. Excellent capture. Warm regards

This is beautiful Liz! Love the rich browns and the terra-cotta leaves, they seam to be floating.

Good composition and I agree with your proportions, they are very well balanced to my eyes. And I wouldn't change a thing about the light in the background.

And the light on the tree trunks is well managed making just a nice reflection on them.

All the best!

There is a "touchable" quality about this image, the textures, light and DOF giving an almost 3D element to the whole scene.

Very well seen and captured.

Kind Regards

Beautiful light, design, and color Liz. I somehow missed seeing this before - glad I found it finally, it's a fine image.

Btw, I like your new home page portrait - very classy.

Best, David

Gorgeous light, colors and composition. And the dark background brings in the mystery of the forest. Very well done.

Wonderful use of the lighting in this capture. The way you have exposed it has made those really dark beautiful vivid colors stand out in a perfect way. Elegant! Take good care my friend and all the best from Jannica
