This photo inspires to try the same sort of thing.

 

But I'd like to see more detail and less of the very large shadow on the left side.

 

Bracketing exposures, i.e. taking a series of shots with increasingly long shutter speeds would allow you to find the point where the detail starts comiong out from the shadows.

 

I'd also get in close and also take some from the left side.

 

I live in Maesai, Thailand and was wary of including people in my photos which is essential to "street photography" style. I just started doing it today in Chiangsaen. A street sweeper with her broom provided a nice sihouette against the river and it really looked like I was just taking a photo of the river even though she was essential to the photo.
