marlabmarrs 0 Posted February 23, 2010 When Red Ribbon week came to a closing at school we had a “ghost out.” Throughout the day Friday a dong sounded over the intercom every thirty minutes. The Grim Reaper came into a our class rooms taking our peers, a total of fifteen. They were exiled for the rest of the day in room. The taking of the students represents how many teenagers and/or young adults that die in accidents related to drugs and alcohol usage. This had a tremendous emotional effect on the student body as a whole. At the end of the day we all gather in the gymnasiums where our peers were presented in front of us. The Grim Reaper approaches the student, touching their shoulder. Their obituary was read to us, the student then blows out their candle to symbolize their life slipping away from us. This day was an eye opening experience for many of the students. I tried to capture the feelings of sadness that the students and myself were feeling that day through this photo. Link to comment
