Started to panic at this point as the car window was open and the key

not in the ignition to allow me to close it. Fortunately he went round the

back of our car. What a treat to see such a magnificent creature up so

close. Our only bear sighting in an 11 day trip to Yellowstone in

September 2009. There are further pictures in the sequence on my

workpage

Hello Colin....the eye leveled angle of view gives much potential to this image, cause it makes the viewer feel as if he was inside the car with you. In the other hand small details (such as the road to the bottom of your frame) "ruin" the sense of wilderness that this photo is supposed to offer. Sharpness is also another issue...although the bear's eye area is quite sharp, the rest of the head and a big part of the upper part of the body lack sharpness and thus critical detail. I have rated though your shot with 5/5 cause despite those technical problems the overall impact of your shot is very dynamic and definitely this photo attracts the viewer's attention (which after all is the ultimate goal for every photographer!). Keep up shooting wiildlife, regards from Greece

I take your point and agree with them. There was no time to check and adjust as the action all happened in a matter of 15 seconds from the bear emerging from behind the car opposite to him turning and crossing the road towards me. I just kept taking photos hoping to get a good one. Thanks for the rating.
