mark_starr 0 Posted September 24, 2009 Wow- great portrait! Tremendous expression on both of thier faces, and nice to see an image where they are not smiling for the camera. Their looks stop the viewer in his or her tracks and warn them to keep their distance as somewhat unwelcomed intruders into the moment. It leaves many questions for the viewer to ponder. Great black and white work too! A very refreshing image- Mark Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted September 25, 2009 Victoria, Two very nice looking girls -- one very cute, the other very beautiful. You have focused very well on their eyes. They have great skin tones and complexions. The taller one has applied her make-up very well. The contrast is excellent. There is wonderful detail in the lights and darks. You couldn't print a black and white much better than this one. They have very nice specular highlights on their lips. The background is nicely out of focus. All attention goes to the two girls. They have wonderful hand positions and expressions. They both have very good eye contact with the camera (viewer). I don't know why you would want to crop into the older girl's head? It really hurts this picture. With the intensity of the little girl's expression and the older girl holding her so protectively, there must be something to be afraid of in front of them. There is much tension showing in their pose and expressions. This looks more like a movie still for a spooky movie than a portrait to me. To be sure -- a very good movie still. You have two catch lights in each eye. One catch light per eye is preferred. If you have multiple catch lights, only one should be dominant. The ideal position for a catch light is at the 10 or 2 o'clock position. To achieve this your main light should be above and to the side of your subject. You do not want a catch light below the pupil. This is a wonderful photograph. I just can't quite make out its purpose. Good shot, Mark Link to comment
victoria_v 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Sincere thanks for the critique and the advices! Mark, this portrait is from the collection of two people together: friends, lovers, spouses, children and parents... I chose this composition for more tension. It is a portrait of mother and daughter. Link to comment

igor_leonidovich_mestman 0 Posted July 1, 2011 There is something about this portrait that speaks ' Suspicious by nature '. Excellent expressive capsulation. Link to comment
