D300 at ISO 200 (-0.3EV), 1/125. Nikon 50/1.8 at f/13. Shooting under a diffused Zeus ringlight on a camera-left stand pointing down at about 45 degrees, with some backlight and fill from two AB-800's with 20-degree honeycombs. A 40-inch reflector, opposite of the ringlight, is used to soften things a bit more. Behind and under the subject is Thunder Gray seamless paper from Savage. The puppy is 7 weeks old, and that's a 12-gauge shotgun. Boots by Danner.

Matt, I agree with Joris. Love the dog's expression. The composition & entire shot is very well done. If I nitpick it would be the glove's shadow on the boot. Excellent work overall

This is a great photo in compositional, color and lighting. You hit all the right notes in this one, especially the lighting. It really shows off the textures and depth of the different elements. Well done!
