And now for my third and final commentary. Garden of Eden. New Year's Eve. Adam off picking grapes or something ("leave the goddam apples alone"); His lady friend thinking up new names for the animals ("No, I didn't stutter; I call it an aardvark.)

All kidding aside, seriously great photography.

I always wondered about that extra 'a' in aardvark... seems like a rather sneaaky way to jump the queue and get to the front of the dictionary.

She is like an elf in an enchanted forest! The light falling on the leaves and the shadows between bring a rich texture to this that looks like it could have been film.

Enjoy your fall, look forward to seeing your posts this winter of your labor over the summer.

Kirk;

You made my day by suggesting that this looks like it could have been film. I have been studying several books on B&W in Lightroom and CS4 in an effort to get my B&W up to speed. Lately I am beginning to feel like I am getting close to what I used to be able to achieve with film and a darkroom.

I do have quite a stockpile of files from over the summer to pour through on the frosty winter days. I likewise hope to see more from you as the seasons change and you maybe give that fly rod a bit of a rest. BTW silly me I did not initially realize that it was you in the fly tying video. I still haven't gotten the fly rod out. I am hoping to do so in the next few weeks.

All the best and thanks for dropping by.

Such silvery goodness here. I see neither Eve, nor a nymph, but an urban refugee. I love the feel of the leaves, bent forward and down, as if reading over her shoulder.

Jeff;

This was taken behind the parking lot of an arts center on a university campus , so urban refugee is on the mark. No doubt finding a quite place to do some homework. I liked the way she blended into the trees as though wrapped in their branches. Your thoughts of the leaves leaning in to read over her shoulder adds to my sense of her communing with the trees.

Wow! Funny how watching Lord of the Rings night before last influenced my reaction to this. The silveryness (don't think that's a word) is what struck me as the forests of the elves in Lord of the Rings. I'll go along with the urban refugee in lieu of an elf but I'm sticking to the silvery elven forest impression - they do look alive and reading over her shoulder.

Must be the silveryness (there goes that word again) that contributes to the film-like quality to this image.

I did kick up the luminosity in the green channel so I guess this is where the silveryness is coming from. I did not watch Lord of the Rings last night but I still have no trouble seeing this girl as an elf in an enchanted forest. I have read the books several times during my youth and I've seen the movies too , so perhaps I am not without some bias.

In addition to the comments above, I liked the "human presence" as an enriching element.

Your placement of the little lady/girl/elf to that particular spot within the frame is also most pleasing; I can imagine all the leaves trying to protect her, somehow...

What really makes this shot for me is the detail and variety of all the foliage, which makes an outstanding backdrop for this study. With any other photographer, there would be the danger of the subject being overshadowed by the background, but the tonal separation here prevents that.

Hola Gordon.

It is like Mother Nature devotes every instant to her thoughts.

Very nice performed. Abrazos.

Bulent;

Thanks for your comment . It is wonderful to her your description as you have taken from the photo precisely wjat I had tried to put in.

Marita;

Thanks for the comment and for noticing the tweaking and other details which went into this photo.

Alberta;

Thanks for the endorsement. The bar goes up and down from day to day but I like to hope that in the end the direction is upward.

Jim;

Thanks for noticing that tonal separation. I tried to work with the light falling as it did to accentuate the girl and the bench while not losing the sense of her being embraced by the forest.

Jose Angel;

Yes mother nature hard at work doing her homework. :-)
