rene_adhibrata 0 Posted November 3, 2009 Hi Alf, I found this image has a good angle of shooting with details of the building well captured. Just thinking that if we can get a better details of the surroundings, eg. the trees, would make the overall picture more interesting (at least just in my opinion).... rgrds, Rene Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted November 3, 2009 Thank you for taking the time to stop and comment, it really is appreciated. I agree with your comment, and it would indeed have been good to see more of the surroundings to the building, however at that time I was using a Nikon 18 - 55mm lens, and had my back right up against the gates to the garden of the building when I took this shot. I have since aquired a Sigma 10-20mm which I am very pleased with and which gives me much more scope for wide angle shots. Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
rene_adhibrata 0 Posted November 4, 2009 Wow,... I also recently got Sigma 12-24mm that can be used in full frame cameras... yes,... think Sigma is quite a good buy, Btw,.. forgot to mention that some distortion correction is probably necessary for the image... the two black pillars look somehow odd.... again, just in my opinion, Alf. alfbailey 4 Posted December 1, 2009 Glad you like it Gail, we are very lucky, this building is open to the public, and costs nothing to go in and wander round to look at the amazing array of palms and plants. It also hosts various displays and exhibitions, situated in Sefton Park, we have Liverpool City Council to thank for this one. Thank you for your interest Gail, Much appreciated ! thadley 15 Posted February 19, 2010 very Good - I may have been to this place once many years ago when I was shooting film and probably not capable of producing something this good.. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted February 19, 2010 This is one of my very first images taken shooting in RAW, although I quite like the result I can now see the mistakes I made during editing, especially with the colour, I didn't have Lightroom then, so I might just have another go at processing the original file, I didn't know you had visited the UK Tony, but if you ever do again, I'd be pleased to show you around our neck of the woods. alfbailey 4 Posted April 14, 2010 Thank you for your very kind words, this is one of my first attempts at processing a RAW file, the building itself is beautiful, but I don't think I did it justice somehow. Thanks again Gunnar Regards Alf Link to comment
vickifrance 0 Posted April 22, 2010 I think you should take a trip to Hawaii if you want to see palms. Just joking... this looks like a mean green palm producing machine. Love the angle and the green tones. Very unique. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted April 22, 2010 Hawaii sounds like a better option : - ) but in reality I leave this image on display to remind myself of a couple of things, that I make mistakes, and that hopefully I am learning from them. This was a very early attempt at converting a RAW file, and the colours amongs other things didn't go quite as planned. It's suprising how many people like it though, Thanks for looking in Vicki much appreciated. Link to comment
