mark_q 0 Posted August 23, 2009 The main attraction of Helsinki Festival's Night of The Arts was the French street theatre company Plasticien Volants performing their Perle show. After a parade the grand finale was played at The Senate Square. Giant helium filled figures, whale, lobster, murena, jellyfishes etc played a story above the heads of tens of thousands of spectators, sometimes down touching the people, sometimes high in the air. Music and fireworks were part of this spectacular show, that lastet about 1 1/2 hour total. For this session I had to push the ISO up to 800, use AutoFocus and Program Mode in order to catch the ever changing scenes as well as my camera would allow. Pardon me the noise...Read more about Perle here: http://www.plasticiensvolants.com/gb/spectacles/perle.htm Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks. I'm glad you liked this one too, one of my favorities. Not only the beautyful decoration of the whale so clearly visible here, but besides the simple triangle composition I myself like the impression that those two men were not aware what's happening above their heads, both looking at other things happening over us, about 50 000 spectators... jeffl7 0 Posted August 25, 2009 How oblivious can you be? The aliens are landing. The world is changing. And no one is looking up. I like this composition a lot. I like how you've created a triangular threesome. Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted August 29, 2009 I love that the cables connect the two worlds, without them everyone would be adrift in the clear blue sea. Link to comment
