I think you could have focused a bit better on his or her eyes. They just don't look in critical focus to me? You could move him or her over just a bit to his or her right. The compositional "rule" for this suggests to position the tip of the nose in the vertical center of the photograph.

You have cropped a little tight to the top of his or her head. I would give him or her a little more head room. The back ground is nicely out of focus. This allows him or her to stand out from the background. There is also a nice backlight on his or her left side which helps separate his or her face and shoulder from the background. I wish the board was not to his or her left side. At least it is a dark color.

He or she has nice catch lights and good eye contact with the camera (viewer). I like his or her expression.

He or she looks an awful lot like a blind date I had in college. I'll never forget that night! Wow!
