Thanks for stopping by. This is one of my many images taken during a vacation in the Caribbean last month. I have not visited your images recently but will be doing so shortly.

Tony... Spectacular colors and excellent detail. Good job getting close, these guys can be spooked easily... Mike

Hi Tony! This is an exceptionally nice shot, and a stand-out in its genre.

I would also like to thank you for your comments on two of my recent postings. You really brightened an otherwise horribly gloomy period (following a computer OS restoration) combined with little sleep for over thirty hours and considerable family drama. PHEW!

I am still in the midst of restoring files...

You got close enough to allow us to see the beautiful variegation of coloring in his back feathers. Excellent shot.....great DOF and clarity, Tony!

Beautiful capture! Why it is called green heron? I cannot see any green coloured feathers. Cheers!

This is excellent! A very smart composed and very well captured photo. Due to the perfect exposure the vivid coöours on the bird stands out in a fantastic way and the light is amazing. The details in the feathers are amazing. Thank you for sharing Tony. 7/7 and a favorite! Take good care and all the best from Jannica

I am pleased that my peers have told me with their comments and their ratings that this is an attractive image. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone for their input. Sometimes I think I know what my peers would consider to be an attractive image and other days it is a mystery but I suspect that since this a world of Photography and Art, that will always be the case. best regards to all and If I have not done so recently, I will slowly get to your images in the near future.

About the image: I was vacationing in the Caribbean island of Nevis in July and visited their Botanical gardens. While I was focusing on the orchids, water lilies, etc I noticed this bird fly in from a tree. My 70-300mm was stretched to the limit as I tried getting close enough to catch the bird as it hopped and walked to different locations. While in this running water it crouched down really low as if it was in attack or hunt mode - I did get a shot (no use of tripod) of that pose but it was not as sharp as I would like it. with this image, I had the lens on VR (Vibration Reduction) which helped with the sharpness at 1/60s speed. I shot a few other images but I am not sure they are in the same 'boat' as this.

best regards to everyone,
