Knight-errant

seeing this full screen on my monitor was a real pleasure... i felt as if i were in the passage watching the boy racing away for me... felt a great sense of depth and proportion... the empty street interestingly with just the racing boy added tension... then i spied a lock on the grilled shutter at extreme left which suggested a shut shop, read with the closed shutters on the windows one could deduce its a holiday... there seems to be a hint of a light fixture on the ceiling of the passage, a ribbed white fitting... seems a fitting caption for this immensely satisfying photograph... marvelous nuanced toning... great to have you back, Wieslaw...

thanks a lot for your visit and your observant comment, it was Saturday 5.50 pm so the most shops had already been closed as you've cleverly deduced. About the light fitting, hm, I've just looked at the original and I'm not sure if there's really something on the ceiling (see the attached photo). However, the ceiling on this b&w version is not as clean as it's on the color one, probably because I worked here on selections to correct the perspective, and any distortions may just be the result of some inaccuracy in this job.

You should come over there my dear Wieslaw and see how streets are at 5.30 pm...eheheheheheh!! Jokes aside this is an absolutely awesome shot, dark and clear masses fit perfectly...the young "alone" biker is fantastic. A great shot!

on the other hand you could try 6 AM, I regularly do.

 

I really like the see-trough at the right as it provides extra info about the environment and you included that in your composition effectively. I also like how the darks and the lines guide us towards that boy. And of course your expertly processed b_w tops it off.

nothing to do, you dont loose a photo, never. you here added at the "usual" tunnel a large window thar gives us 2 visions, inside and outside, and you show also the town, more empty than the tunnel. and a little stupid thing: the perfection of the shirt, a little jewel in this photo

I really like the "split screen" feeling of this photo. The two openings seem to give two separate and distinct takes on the same location, each perfectly frames by its own arch. The fact that you recognized the creative potential of the scene attests to your photographic awareness of your surroundings.
