Lavendar Dusk

ian cameron

The lavender fields of Provence are justifiably held in high regard amongst landscape photographers. These fields were close the village of Valensole and this one in particular caught my eye as I realised it would line up with the setting sun later in the evening. This is the twilight version shortly after sunset which was incidentally one of the most astonishing I have ever witnessed. This is pretty pleasing though.New Photography workshops and masterclasses at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

A lavendar field aligns with the setting sun rows converging near

Valensole, Provence, France. 5 stops of graduated neutral density filter

were required to hold the detail in the lavendar to the levels that I could

see with my own eyes. It was an exquisite colour palette.

Very nice lighting and simple yet impressive composition here - I love gently miscentered placing of lines (both, in lavender fields as well as horizon), which altogether works out extremely well into a perfectly balanced image. Various magenta hues in the foreground and in the sky accentuate serenity of the scene, simplicity and overall impact of the photo. Cheers, Marek
