What's happening over there? E.T. still alive and kicking? Fully painted/decorated trains (trams and busses) seem to be everywhere and for a photographer with keen eyes they serve opportunities for interesting juxtapositions and associations, like here: quite spontaneously I see on left an All Japanese Robot in it's glorious shiny outfit winking his eye to me as the viewer. As there is no text along/around E.T.'s portrait makes me wonder if that decoration is an attempt to turn the environment more visual, "softer", as part of a greater project. You maybe can enlighten us, Jack?

Wonderful image that has a deceptive serendipitous look to it. But I know you saw and plotted out the whole thing. And, like Markku, I saw the metallic robot on the left as perhaps more sinister than the guy on the other side. He needs to be watched closely, as I can see him snatching a stray passenger here and there for nefarious purposes.

My first impression took me in the direction of abstraction, rather than a narrative. I like the look of this, regardless of the storyline. That being said, I like the stories that Markku and David created.

Thanks for the comments on this picture. This was taken when my train stopped at Nishikujo Station on the way to Nara. Nishikujo is where you transfer for the train to Universal Studios Japan theme park, hence the decorated car.
