I like the way you were trying to simplify the composition with a pano crop. The bit of the image which doesn't work IMO is the cloud in the top right, simply because it intersects the edge of the image.

The sweeping view, the light, both are fantastic. That darn cloud; if only it had a defined border. Simply marvellous shot, though!

Thanks for the great comments. See what you mean about the silly cloud and am working on a fix now. Actually jumped up in the middle of dinner and ran outside to shoot this. This is a hand held, no tripod, grabbed 2 quick shots and bam! the light was gone. thanks again...RAY

Welcome back, Oh I love this location, I had family in the region when I was a kid. I have never had the chance to be back to collect all the shots that are only in my head. I do not think the cloud crop detracts from the shot, except I would have cropped it even tighter on the right side. In other news, after a break from PN I am back with a small folder titled Utah and you are invited to drop by.

I can see why you wanted to rush out and take this photo! The lighting is soft and wonderful. I'm honestly just not that bothered by the cloud. I think it kind of leads the viewer's eye off the page.....as if there were more 'monuments' off to the right....giving a sense of the expanse of the scene. Although I didn't try it, I'm inclined to agree with Craig about cropping just a smidge more off the right. You might try it and see if you like it!

Thanks for the great comments. As I said this was a jump up and grab shot just me hoping I could get the color. I'm beginning to see the tighter crop on the right. I'm thinking just to the right of the butte. As always I do value your comments and they are indeed, appreciated....RAY
