jill_bingham 0 Posted July 16, 2009 I Knew that tis image made me feel forrmiliar some reason I was married there on December 9th 2009 .... Not there... but in Punta Cana What a beautiful place! Great Capture! Were you on Vacation or work? Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 16, 2009 Actually, in 1980 I was at the Club Med in Punta Cana (first Life) and had heard of Altos de Chavon...but couldn't afford the excursion (1st life).........had wanted to go ever since. Then in 2006 when Jim and I went on a Carribbean Cruise with my parents, our first stop was in the Dominican.....Altos was on the excursion list, so I made sure we all went..Dad wasn't too sure he wanted to go, but I told him he'd go 'nuts' with his camera. Once there he could not believer how fantastic the place was. He lent me his Olympus E-1 that I had never used before, neither a DSLR.....I was walking rather blindly......but most of the shots turned out. I was on Auto most of the time....I had no idea what any of the 'buttons' meant. What a lovely place to get married. I would love to go back now that I am more experienced with my camera...but don't think it is in the 'cards' for any time soon. This shot I applied a filter to, and I am not as pleased with the result....I'm aiming at posting another one. I have a few more shots from there in my 'Recent Folder'... tnks Jill for your kind words of critique.....its a fabulous place..I've got all kinds of shots to process. toodles for now........Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 16, 2009 Thank you for your encouraging words of critique Steven.....this capture is a good one...but as I told Jill, I applied a filter to it and when I see it online....the tone is not quite as realistic....so hopefully I will get a second version on that I will like much better and you may also.....cheers and tnks for stopping in......sincerely, Gail Link to comment
fabrizio_r 0 Posted July 16, 2009 What wondeful place! You got so natural and nice colors, well done Gail! Link to comment

gungajim 75 Posted July 17, 2009 A pretty good travel photo for someone who says they don't travel much. Despite all my travels, I have never been to the DR. GJ Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 17, 2009 Well we don't really travel much, at least in the lasst 10 years. The cruise with my parents(2006) was the last real trip we had. And it was so enjoyable. This is a fascinanting spot...wonderful scenery. Altos is perched on a high cliff. If you look it up on the internet, you will see just how high it is. Magnificent scenery. Thanks for your visit...sincerely, Gail Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 24, 2009 With the quality of photos your are doing....you would arrive here, and probably never want to leave....it is such a 'haven' for creativity.....I would go back in a 'heartbeat'....never got to spend nearly enough time there, and now I have a camera that I know how to use!!! was a challenge using Dad's for the first time....but I am so fortunate to have walked away with some pretty decent images....sincere thanks, Gail Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted July 25, 2009 Gail: Very good composition, very pleasing to the eye with great colors, but for some reason I think the sharpness could be improved a little. Tom Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 25, 2009 Tnks for your kind remarks Tom....there actually is much that could be imporved but again it is the camera my Dad lent me when we went on the Cruise...and it is the first time I've ever used a DLSR....it was an Olympus E1 I think....have to check my Camera list....but I didn't even know what the buttons were for. I'm amazed I even got this shot at all. A lot could have been me...I imagine if it is anything like my Canon XSi, it has 'Focus Points'...and there were areas of many of my photos were it seemed the pixels..kind of just fell apart.....or disappeared....so some images I've had to 'fill in the spaces'..........very frustrating. But still worth it. If I get time I'll try to sharpen it....and post another....tonite I've been sending out Pics of our house which is for sale....to a friend that sounded interested......and been getting ready for tomorrow. Where we live, it is an Adult Lifestyle Community. The Sales Office is open 5 days a week...Friday is our only day off....they could phone me any day they are open and expect to show the house within 5 minutes if the customer insists. So EVERY FREAKIN DAY OF THE WEEK except FRIDAY is just like having an OPEN HOUSE............I actually sat and read the paper this morning and drank my tea while it was hot. In between loads of laundry and cleaning I've been trying to get photos out to these people......rate on PN......and edit a few photos for my Portfolio........I think I'm tired..................cheers, and thank you Tom for your kind remarks............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............. : - ((zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted July 25, 2009 Gail: Thank you for your recent comments on many of my photos, please feel free to provide rating when commenting. I also use an Olympus, have been for about seven years. I really think this photo just needs a little sharpening with Photoshop and it would be that much better. Tom Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 26, 2009 I'll go back and rate....I thought they were there just for critique...and not presented for rating yet.....I was tired....perhaps that is how I 'goofed up'.....sincerely, Gail PS went back again...and the 'rate' box is not on most of the photos.......how do I rate them???
