This is a timeless image. Superb work! the only thing is that the texture in teh dark areas lack grain perhaps you can match middle in photoshop as a layer then blend. Wonderful

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. It's fantastic. Yeah, the burn is a bit heavy-handed, but it almost adds to the period feel. Anyway, I hope you still have the neg, that's one for the vaults. Regards and kudos.

I am in agreement with the quality of this portrait. There was a thread in the People Photography Forum that was asking about what techniques you used other than just an umbrella and a fill card. I gave it a whack. I was just wondering how close I came!

I like the portrait very much. One of my favorites at photo.net. The lighting, the tone...

Personally I would probably use a bit longer distance and somewhat longer lens (in order to kee the same framing), but this would be another "degree of presence", therefore another photo.

An excellent portrait, thank you very much!

One of the best portraits I have seen at PN. Technically great despite other comments. And her beauty don't belong to this planet.

I lived in Ottawa at that time ( and for some time afterwards), prey tell,

which camera store might that have been?   Peter

Peter, it wasn't a camera store, it was a commercial photo studio called Photo Features, Ltd, located at the corner of Elgin and Gladstone in Ottawa.

Lovely portrait of Rita.  Thanks for sharing Brooks.  Amazing that this photo randomly caught my eye whilst lost on the internet.....perhaps not so random after all.  If you still have the negative, you could always have it scanned and become reacquainted with Rita and 1972 (a very good year indeed).  Cheers!
