paolo de faveri 1 Posted June 29, 2009 The beautiful conical peak of the Mont Séti and the creek known as Reculaz, a tributary of the River Arc in Haute Maurienne, Western Alps, France. It had been overcast for most of the afternoon but I was quite confident the sky would have broken as it wasn't a big front and the wind was strong. So I just waited a good while and was rewarded at the end with this moody scene at sunset. Your C&C are as always welcome, thanks in advance for your time. Details: Eos 50D, Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 f4, GND 4x, tripod. 5" f11. This is a pano of three verticals, have a look at the larger image for much better details Link to comment

whydangle 0 Posted June 29, 2009 Wow Paolo! Another fine display of nature captured. I really love blurred flowing water. Here in Bakersfield, we don't have this kind of flow, very dry country. Those peaks are imposing and the sky is a gift from above. My only minor thought is the in-balance between the foreground and the peaks themselves, probably the grad shadow. I think you could get away with bracketing and farm detail from the brighter exposures, problem is (and I have experienced this myself) the amount of time it takes just to make one image. I have blended from 4 verticals taken at two different exposures, meaning 8 total exposures. When making long exposures, you could be shooting for a couple of minutes before you have what you need for one image. It is often a compromise that makes the best final output, in this case, you have provided the most meaningful parts of the scene, the flowing water and the great sky. The peaks falling into near silhouette is a happy medium and an acceptable compromise. It is another grand scene from you! Link to comment
