Pripyat is the "company" town where workers at the Chernobyl nuclear

power plant resided. In order to attract workers to this remote facility,

the town contained a number of ammenities not ordinarily offered to

Soviet citizens. This ferris wheel was part of a small amusement park

that was one of these ammenities. Tourists like this one wait for their

turn for a ride only to find it is no longer operable.
