Very nice photo

Hi David, nice composition, great light and good DOF. Works well for me in b/w. There's something strange about his complexion but otherwise, well done.

I think I may have smoothed the skin a little too much, although his baby face skin is pretty darn smooth to begin with. Thanks for the nice compliment. David

I like the gray tones and the expression.

 

A bit more details on the skin would be welcome. A bit more space on the right and less on the left would follow the direction of the eyes.

I revised the image to give more grain to the skin and more room on the right. I tried to attach the original without success.

this for me is the best close-up photograph of Tomas...

Thanks, Rajat. This is one of my earlier images, relatively speaking. I started shooting digital at the end of December, 2008 and started learning PS and Lighroom about that time. I especially like this lens. It produces some of the best portraits I have. I can't use it that often, though, because most of the children I shoot are constantly on the move, and I can't hold it steady enough. Sometimes I can get Tomas, my son, to stand still for a good shot. Thanks again. David
